Pain Management

Reducing Chronic Pain Through Pain Neuroscience Education

Get Our Programs

Persistent pain and its debilitating effects are a reality for millions of people.

Our programs provide a powerful supplement to people in physical therapy that empowers both patient and clinician to achieve better outcomes together, faster.

50M Americans suffer from chronic pain.

Far too many suffer in silence, or are prescribed opioids with all the attendant risks of dependence and misuse, a contributing factor to the epidemic of opioid-related deaths. This has a negative impact on care providers, patients and society.

Pain Neuroscience Education and engagement for the patient.

In many cases, acute pain can spiral intro chronic, persistent pain, which may be overtreated with medications or even surgery. Outcomes improve when clinicians are empowered to help their patients understand what is happening in their brain and body.

Pain is a personal experience.

You can be a highly trained, emotionally intelligent PT and still not see into your patient’s psychological situation. It takes energy and time to communicate the difference between what’s happening in a patient's body versus their brain.

Give patients a way into healing they can own.

People experiencing pain must understand their physiology to start regulating their emotional responses. By building knowledge and skills, we can empower transformative change and dramatically improve lives.

Frequently Asked

Can VR be a replacement for other pain therapies or treatments?

Virtual therapeutics and wellness programs can be extremely effective in helping extinguish stress, anxiety and fear. This is why we have built all our programs on the SAFE protocol.  With more investment in relevant research fields than ever before, new discoveries and insights emerge regularly. Each takes us a step closer to finally making mental health support available to everyone who needs it, both with self-directed wellness programs and by treating digital therapeutics as an adjunct to care from a licensed clinician.

For example, a patient with chronic pain may benefit from PNE+ in VR to improve their understanding of pain and lower their tendency to catastrophize pain, which can be meaningful whether done in the home, or with a physical therapist. Our VR PNE+ program has the ability to change both how people feel and how they function. If you can see the benefits of pain management through VR for your patient population, please reach out.

Who can benefit from pain management in VR?

Everyone in need can benefit, as the medium is incredibly accessible. While VR experiences can be expensive to develop, they are very cost-effective to distribute. We often ask ourselves: “What good is innovation in healthcare if most people can’t access it?” Our mission is to reimagine how people access and experience care by leveraging the unique neurological powers of VR and distributing it in engaging ways — until as many people as possible have an easy, engaging, and effective way into better mental health.

How does VR feel?

Experiencing VR for the first time may feel a little funny, but modern VR technology is better than ever at minimizing the likelihood of motion sickness or sense of disorientation. Our experiences are designed to be very calming and minimize the likelihood of motion sickness, as they have no motion that is not directed by the user.

I don’t have time to manage complicated technology. Is it time consuming to manage?

Not at all! We make it incredibly simple to purchase and operate PNE+ in VR.  We pre-configure and keep your headsets updated, and you manage it through our simple clinician portal. Our solution actually “creates time” for your clinicians. Using PNE+ has been proven to increase patient through put and reduce burden on clinical staff time. You can use PNE+ in waiting rooms, at the start of therapy sessions or at the end. Our on-boarding program can help you determine the best practices you will need.

Ok — how can I get in touch and implement PNE+ in my practice?

We can’t wait to hear from you. To get in touch with our team, please Get in Touch today. You can also start by taking a class and getting certified to use PNE+ in your practice. Please visit our partner Evidence in Motion and get started.
